Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 is still launching on November 19, 2026. In a street interview that went viral, he also explained why it has taken Rockstar so long to deliver the most anticipated game in history.
🔥 What Zelnick Said
The interview came through The School of Hard Knocks, a popular TikTok account that films street conversations with business and entertainment figures. Zelnick was asked directly when GTA 6 is coming out and gave a straight answer: November 19, 2026. No hedging, no qualifiers.
He was then asked why it is taking so long, given that GTA 5 launched back in 2013, making this a 13-year gap between entries in the series. His answer was simple: “The team at Rockstar really does seek to do something that’s never been done before. That’s really hard, and it takes a long time.”
That one line is what drove the search spike. Gamers who have been waiting years, many of whom are now questioning whether the game will actually hit that November date after a six-month delay earlier this year, wanted to hear exactly this from the top. And they got it.
Zelnick also shared some broader business context during the interview. Take-Two Interactive posted $6.7 billion in revenue last year. This year the company is forecasting $8 billion, a projection that is directly tied to GTA 6’s upcoming release. Analysts estimate the game could move 25 million copies on launch day alone. Those are numbers that make a delay very unlikely at this stage.
🎮 What This Means for GTA 6 Players
The confirmation matters because GTA 6 has already slipped once. The game was originally expected in early 2025 and ended up running roughly 18 months behind Rockstar’s internal schedule before landing on the current November 19 date. Every time the date has been questioned, Zelnick has come out and held firm. This is now another instance of that pattern.
For players in India, the wait has been especially long. GTA 5 built a massive fanbase here, and the PC modding community has kept it alive for years. GTA 6 is confirmed for console first, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as the launch platforms. A PC release has not been officially dated, which is the one piece of information Indian PC gamers are still waiting on.
On the marketing side, Zelnick mentioned that the GTA 6 campaign is close to launching. A third trailer has not appeared yet, but based on the timing and the November release window, it is expected before the end of summer. When that trailer drops, expect another wave of searches and social conversation far larger than this one.
⚡ What Comes Next for GTA 6
The November 19 window is now locked in according to Zelnick, which means Rockstar is deep into final polish and certification. Between now and launch, players should watch for three things.
The third trailer is the most immediate event to track. Marketing is starting soon according to Zelnick, and a third trailer would be the logical next move to build momentum for a November release. The first two trailers generated hundreds of millions of views each. The third will likely be the same.
Pre-order information and pricing will follow once the marketing campaign officially begins. Rockstar has not yet announced standard and deluxe editions, bonus content, or early access details.
PC release timing is the biggest open question for a large portion of the global fanbase. Rockstar did not bring GTA 5 to PC until two years after the console launch. Whether GTA 6 follows the same pattern or comes to PC sooner has not been addressed publicly. Zelnick’s comments have not touched on PC at all, which suggests it is not part of the November 19 window.
In our sessions waiting for this game since the first trailer dropped in late 2023, the question has always been whether Rockstar would hold the line or push again. Right now, based on everything coming from Take-Two, November 19 is real.
